In the 6.0 version of the dLibra system, there appeared a new possibility: of presenting a single objects in various forms. That function is commonly called multi-format. The mechanism is abstract and independent of the digital format of files. Alternative forms of presenting objects make it possible to present a single digital object in various ways. Below, we list several possibilities of using that function:

  1. Alternative presentation forms can be classified by the ‘technical’ formats of presented files, for example, PDF, DjVu, etc. (such a classification is used in the Baltic Digital Library; here is a sample object: https://bibliotekacyfrowa.eu/dlibra/publication/60524/edition/56053 – date of access: 04.01.2018).
  2. Alternative presentation forms can also be classified by the nature of the information they contain, for example: a document scan, a Polish transcription, an English translation (such a classification is used by default in the Zapisy Terroru portal; here is a sample object: http://zapisyterroru.pl/dlibra/publication/2906/edition/2887/content – date of access: 04.01.2018)
  3. An alternative presentation form can also be auxiliary. For example, selected objects in the Zapisy Terroru portal have, apart from their content (described in point 2), supplementary multimedia materials, that is, each selected image has a gallery of images related to it. Here is a sample object with such supplementary materials: http://zapisyterroru.pl/dlibra/publication/466/edition/452/content – date of access: 04.01.2018)
