The mechanism of planned digital objects in the dLibra system is based on so-called planned publications. Planned publications are special objects created by the editors of a digital library in order to inform the users of its website about digitization plans. Planned publications contain all information about the future digitized object (for example, the descriptive metadata of the object, the assignment to a collection, or access permissions to it), in addition to the content and information based on it (for example, the digital format). After the digitization, editors add digital content to appropriate planned publications, in this way transforming them into standard publications. The permalink for a planned publication and for the standard publication created from it is usually the same (because the planned publication is transformed into the standard publication).
